Councilmember Andrews teaming again with local barber shop to offer free back-to-school haircuts

Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews and Mr. Baker’s Style Center will host a back-to-school free haircut event for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The event will take place from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, Sept. 4 at Mr. Baker’s Style Center, 1008 E. Pacific Coast Hwy.
This is the third year that Andrews is teaming up with Mr. Baker’s to offer the no-cost haircuts for the beginning of the school year.
“Parents are hit with many back-to-school expenses such as school supplies, clothing and activity fees,” Andrews said. “This year is especially hard with the economy still struggling to recover. We’re happy that our partnership with Mr. Baker’s Style Center offers an excellent opportunity for families who may not be able to afford back-to-school haircuts for their children.”
“Students want to start the new school year looking their best, and we want to do our part to encourage our youth with added confidence,” said Mike Baker, owner of Baker’s Style Center. “This is why I decided to participate in this event. We are not just giving back to the parents in our community, but helping area youth go back to school feeling more confident with a new hair cut.”
For more information on the event call Andrews’s office at (562) 570-6816.
