“We are grateful for New York Life’s investment in this program, which will have a lasting effect on the entire community,” said Sara Myers, executive director of LBPLF. “New York Life’s commitment has helped us serve thousands of families in Long Beach.”
New York Life’s Community Impact Grant program awards grants of up to $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations that address the needs of the community. Two hundred sixty grants totaling more than $3.1 million have been awarded since the program’s inception in 2008, according to New York Life.
“New York Life strongly encourages our employees to give their time and talents to help make a difference in our community,” said Rick Alsagoff, financial services agent of the company’s Long Beach office.
Nancy Young, director of Development for LBPLF, said the grant will help fund the Dana Branch’s homework-assistance program, literacy center and computers for students to do school projects and for others to conduct job searches.
