Don't unleash trouble for yourself as a dog owner

The City of Signal Hill recently adopted a new municipal code ordinance that will seek to prevent dogs from running off leash, according to the City’s website.
The ordinance allows animal control and Signal Hill Police to issue administrative citations to pet owners who neglect to follow the “leash law.”
The “leash law” now requires that all pet owners keep their dogs on a leash no more than six feet long when the dog is on any public street, sidewalk, park, public space or private property, if that private property is not enclosed. This includes undeveloped areas around Signal Hill.
The law also advises pet owners to be responsible and to properly dispose of any pet waste that is left behind by their animals. The law specifically states that pet owners remove pet waste and deliver it to a proper trash receptacle.
