Guests of the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site will have the chance to “get some history between their toes” this Sunday, Aug. 19 at Mud Mania: A Celebration of Adobe. The event will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, located on 4600 Virginia Road in Long Beach.
Mud Mania is sponsored by Friends of Rancho Los Cerritos and Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine. Visitors will learn about the importance of adobe in early California and have the chance to make real adobe bricks, plaster a wall or construct a mini adobe home.
The Witcher Brothers will be playing live bluegrass music in the scenic garden throughout the event and refreshments will be available for purchase.
No reservations are required and the prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children four to 12. Children ages three and under are free. Shoes are required everywhere except the mud pit and, though wash-up stations will be available, guests are encouraged to wear old clothes and bring a towel plus a change of clothes for the ride home.
