A 91-year-old man who was hit by a vehicle in a residential driveway in Long Beach died at a hospital, police said Monday, May 16.
Song Srun of Long Beach was injured about 9:45 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of East Plymouth Street, and he died on Sunday at a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Officers went to the Plymouth Street location on a report of an “injury traffic collision,” police said.
“The preliminary investigation revealed a female adult driver was backing out of her driveway when she struck the pedestrian who was walking across her driveway as she was backing out,” police said in a statement.
The driver, who had a valid driver’s license, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. Her name was not released.
“At this time, neither speed, distracted driving nor impairment are believed to be factors in the collision,” police said.
