Prepare to bust a move for the return of Dance Fest, an all-ages artistic showcase put on by the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine’s Homeland Cultural Center, on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Taking place from 5-7 p.m. at Cesar E. Chavez Park Amphitheater (401 Golden Ave.), Dance Fest will feature 10 cultural performances that weave together global performing arts traditions. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic-style dinners as community members demonstrate their creative skills.

“Culture and the arts are the fabric of our community, and Dance Fest is a powerful reminder of how the arts bring people together, celebrate our shared cultures and strengthen community connections,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement.

The Homeland Cultural Center, located at MacArthur Park (1321 E. Anaheim St.), hosts free year-round cultural classes and drop-in programs for people of all ages to explore traditional and urban contemporary dance, music and the arts.
