Festival celebrates family on Saturday

The third annual Come Celebrate Family event is coming to the Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The event, presented by the Intergenerational Resource Center (IRC) at CHLB, seeks to help bridge the gap between children, parents, grandparents and extended family members through activities and services they can share together.
The day will start off with a pancake breakfast followed by activities such as face painting with the Downtown Clown, puppet shows by the American Red Cross and the Assistance League of Long Beach, an exotic animal exhibit by The Animal Guys, Inc. and an antique fire truck from the Long Beach Fire Department along with displays from the Long Beach Police Department. Polaroid pictures will also be taken by Mark Bower Photography to capture the event.
“Come Celebrate Family promises to be a great event for everyone in the family,” said CHLB Community Services Director Kathy Berry in a press release. “Our goal is to highlight the IRC and to provide more visibility to the many programs and services it offers.”
The IRC is a comprehensive health education, resource and service center for seniors, their families, students and health professionals of all disciplines. The IRC is housed inside the CHLB at 1720 Termino Avenue in Long Beach. Free parking is available behind the hospital.
