The Long Beach Fire Department will host its 6th annual Red Cross Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 9am to 3pm, at the Long Beach Fire Department Headquarters, 3205 Lakewood Blvd.
The blood drive is a competition between the Long Beach Fire and Police departments to determine which raises the most donations to save lives. Walk-in donors will be welcome, and they will be asked to indicate the department to which they would like to give credit.
The age requirement is 17, and the donor must be healthy and weigh at least 110 pounds. 16-year-old donors are allowed in the state of California with a parent consent form, but they must weigh at least 122 pounds.
