On Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m., the First Congregational Church of Long Beach will screen the documentary film, For The Bible Tells Me So. The film, made by Dan Karslake, won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival and asks the question “Is the gap between homosexuality and Christianity too wide to cross?”
Through the experiences of five very normal, American families of faith–including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson–viewers discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child.
Two of the film’s producers, Karen Ellis and Sandra Harkness, will be in attendance for the screening and will be available for a question-and-answer session after the film.
The film is open to the public and though there is no charge, a free-will offering to support the Sunday Homeless Drop-In Center at First Congregational Church will be taken.
