In response to RichCo Outdoor Construction’s expanding gate business, owner Richard Connelly has set up shop in Signal Hill. Under the moniker of RichCo Gates, Connelly and crew are constructing a variety of gate styles with one thing in common, custom quality.
RichCo Outdoor Construction, established in 2002, has found a new home at 1875-A Freeman Avenue in Signal Hill. The store includes a showroom where homeowners, by appointment, may see the variety of gates available. Gate styles range from arts and crafts, contemporary, mid-century, traditional, and Mediterranean.
But according to a press release, the process really begins at the company Web site. This user-friendly site illustrates the possibilities, with room for your own ideas. Every order is a special order not only in size but in style, something beneficial to the diverse architecture of Long Beach’s many historical district homes.
“In today’s real estate market, homeowners and investors have become more savvy in considering ways to increase property value,” said Gretchen Swanson, co-owner of RichCo. “A beautiful handcrafted gate both complements architectural styles while creating more functional outdoor space.”
Through his business, Connelly, a Long Beach native, hopes to carry on the sentiment of the Arts and Crafts movement, that it is important to have individually, handmade goods in an increasingly mass-produced world.
Also a craftsman and licensed contractor, Connelly develops all the construction formats for the company. Swanson does the consultation and development for whole exterior concepts for home refurbishment.
RichCo Gates are made from redwood and are offered in cedar, for an additional cost. Prices range from a three-foot classic style gate for $375 to their most popular, top-of-the-line cedar Mortise Joinery style at $1,275 for a six-foot gate. Exterior and driveway gate prices vary.
