For seniors about to rock, a concert to salute them

What happens when members from OASIS Lakewood join with The Rock Club? It’s Battle of the Bands, senior style, and a fundraising concert like no other. On November 7, OASIS, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults 50 and older, is partnering with The Rock Club, giving OASIS members the experience of a lifetime and audiences an opportunity to support OASIS in its fundraising efforts while they share in the fun. The concert will be filled with old standards, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin tunes, and other classics in a three-hour showcase.
The Rock Club LLC is a membership-based program which encourages musicians of all ages and abilities. Over a short period of weeks, the members of OASIS are put into bands, choose the songs they want to play, and meet once a week in The Rock Club studio where full instruments and coaching by a professional and seasoned musician are provided.
For the “OASIS Lakewood Rocks the Generations” fundraiser concert, OASIS musicians will dust off their musical talent and perform live at the Gaslamp Restaurant in front of family, friends, and the public. The funds from this event will support the OASIS Active Generations program which promotes physical activity and healthy eating for low-income children and their families by teaming pairs of adults age 50-plus with kids in grades three to five in after-school settings.
The November 7 concert will take place from noon to 4pm at Gaslamp Restaurant, 6251 E Pacific Coast Hwy.
Partnership opportunities are available— contact Kit G. Katz, director of OASIS Lakewood, at (562) 601-5041.
