FOSHCA names Show & Sell’s ‘People’s Choice’ artist

foshca-artist.jpgFriends of Signal Hill Cultural Arts announced artist Mary Eileen McAtee as the winner of the FOSHCA Show and Sell People’s Choice Award Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Signal Hill’s City Council meeting. McAtee was selected as the favorite artist of those who attended FOSHCA’s inaugural art exhibition on Oct. 13.
McAtee states that she has been inspired to create “beautiful visions that make life happier” for as long as she could remember. Her watercolor paintings display the ethereal images of flowers, angels and the California coast.
“I know my ability and love of drawing are God’s gift and I feel truly blessed,” she said.
Inspired by her mother, who took time sending cards to those she cared about, and motivated by a desire to provide a personal touch to cards she gave to friends and family, McAtee has also created a line of hand-crafted greeting cards. McAtee was one of nearly 30 artists featured at Show and Sell Oct. 13.
Friends of Signal Hill Cultural Arts is a nonprofit organization that also sponsors events such as the Summer Concert Series in Signal Hill Park, quarterly artist exhibitions, family art workshops and public art projects throughout the city. For more information about FOSHCA, call (562) 989-7370.
