The works will include a sophisticated “functional art chair,” photography, oil and acrylic paintings, graphite, watercolor, stippled ink, oil pastels and soft pastel chalk.
“This show has something for everyone, from younger to older, and our opening night should be one of our best,” said Douglas Orr, Gallery Expo curator.
The opening reception will feature carolers straight from The Long Beach Shakespeare Company’s A Christmas Carol and local jazz recording artist Cris Barber, singing songs from her new Christmas CD. Hot chocolate and s’mores will be served, and children may have their picture taken with Santa on his sleigh. The event will also feature an artist bazaar, featuring gifts under $200.
In the Expo Building, where Gallery Expo is located, artists will be working on creations for the public to view. Gary and Linda Schulthess will provide ceramic and painting demos, Mathew Taylor will be painting and making glass beads, and Jerry Lee will have artists working on a mural as part of his organization called Tinderbox.
