The Garage Theatre will present Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, a play that James Martin SJ, the original production’s theological advisor, says tackles “Jesus, Judas, and Life’s Big Questions.”
The case of “God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth vs. Judas Iscariot” has been called to order and ambitious young attorney, Fabiana Aziza Cunningham, is fighting for Judas Iscariot’s freedom from the gates of hell and, in the process, her own salvation. Witnesses include Sigmund Freud, Pontius Pilate, Mother Teresa, and Satan himself.
Director Eric Hamme says it is “a production so large in size and content, it proves to be one of the most ambitious projects we’ve taken on thus far.”
This production is supported in part by a grant from the Arts Council for Long Beach and City of Long Beach, as well as by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. The Last Days of Judas Iscariot will run from August 8 through September 6 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m. at the Garage Theatre.
Tickets are $20 for opening and closing nights (includes receptions) and $15 general admission; $12 students and seniors.
