The Long Beach City College (LBCC) Foundation Athletics Associates group will host its 32nd annual golf tournament on Thursday, May 14 at Recreation Park Golf Course, 5001 Deukmejian Dr. All proceeds from the event benefit the LBCC Department of Athletics.
The Athletics Associates of the Long Beach City College Foundation acts as a support group for the men’s and women’s sports programs at LBCC and raises funds for the purchase of athletic equipment, team travel expenses, tournament participation expenses, officials’ expenses and much more. Since its formation, the Athletics Associates has raised over $500,000 for the LBCC athletic programs, according to the organization.
Registration cost for the tournament is $200 per person or $750 for a four-person team. Those that register by May 1 will be entered into an early-bird drawing for dinner for eight and a duffy boat ride. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Check-in will begin at 11am at the course followed by lunch at 11:30am. A shotgun start is scheduled for 1pm. Long-time supporters of LBCC Athletics Suzie Atwood and August “Augie” Luuga will also be honored at the tournament dinner.
