The unveiling of Target’s signage at 950 East 33rd Street in Signal Hill has residents abuzz about the store’s impending reopening. According to a banner hanging outside the store, it is set to reopen July 29.
The store closed its doors unexpectedly last January for an $8 million renovation project that will include the addition of 11,000 square feet.
“It will look like a completely new store,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesperson.
Among the improvements customers can expect from the store’s facelift are wider aisles and more natural light, said Thomas.
The new store will also feature a pharmacy and a 1-hour photo, as well as a “food avenue” with a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut.
Now that building and fire officials have approved the life-safety hardware and construction progress, workers will spend the coming weeks restocking the store with merchandise.
Upon completion of the remodeling project, Target will pay the city of Signal Hill a $20,000 development impact fee, which will benefit water and traffic improvement programs and city parks.
