Halloween Dink or Treat in Wrigley offers pickleball for all

Grab your paddles and your favorite comfortable costume, and head to the courts for Halloween Dink or Treat, the Wrigley Association and Veloz Pickleball’s community pickleball gathering on Sunday, Oct. 20.

Taking place at the Veterans Park pickleball courts (101 28th Street), this event is open to locals ages 12 and up and for players of all skill levels, no matter if they’re beginners or pickleball fanatics. This event is sponsored by a grant from the City of Long Beach Community Development’s Housing & Neighborhood Services Bureau.

Local pickleball coach Kaleem Umari, along with Veloz sponsored professional players, will host clinics for players of all skill levels (kids ages 12-17, beginner, intermediate and advanced).

Clinics will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will last for roughly an hour with tournaments starting around 9:30 a.m. If there are enough entrants at each skill level then each group will have a separate tournament.

The tournaments will follow a sudden death bracket format, where if a player wins, they continue playing and if they lose, they are eliminated.

Wrigley residents will be given priority registration, and are required to provide proof of ID with their Wrigley neighborhood address on it at the event.

Winners of each tournament will receive prizes and the first 100 qualified people to register will receive a free Veloz paddle and two pickleballs at the event. If the event is unable to register 100 Wrigley residents, the Association will open up the event to other local neighborhood residents in the order in which they registered.

Visit WrigleyLB.com/resources or fill out the registration form and sign up for Halloween Dink or Treat. Costumes are highly encouraged.
