The plot thickens
The Historical Society of Long Beach (HSLB) will mark 22 years of storytelling at Sunnyside Cemetery with its annual Historical Cemetery Tour from 8:30am to noon at 1095 E. Willow St.
Costumed actors will present historical stories of those buried at the site. Presentations will be from 9am to 2:40pm.
Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets are: $20 for general admission; $15 for HSLB members; $8 for those ages 5 to 18; and $1 for children 4 years and under.

Zealous zombies
Calling all rotting, brain-eating, flesh-dripping citizens roaming the Earth in varying states of decay! Join Shoreline Village for an all-day celebration of all things undead from 2pm to 10pm, including vendors, eight hours of entertainment at the Shoreline Village Stage by some of Long Beach’s most talented flesh-eating musicians, including Cowboy & Indian, Bearwulf and DJ Lili Bird, with more to be announced!
The event will include outdoor screenings of the zombie classic Night of the Living Dead at the Lola’s Mexican Cuisine Outdoor Retro Cinema and another zombie classic to be announced and of course, a ghoulish walk/shuffle down Rainbow Harbor— all for free!

Free fun!
Calvary Chapel Signal Hill will host its annual community outreach, the Let Him Shine Celebration from 6pm to 10pm on the campus of Signal Hill Elementary School, 2285 Walnut Ave. Carnival games, hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy will be provided at no charge. There will also be lots of free candy distributed! In addition to these goodies, there will be a live DJ and performances by illusionist Ken Sands, as well as live music by the Bear Hug Band and the Gutierrez Brothers. “Face” the music
Downtown Long Beach’s fourth annual Dia de los Muertos celebration will be held on Pine Avenue between 4th and 6th streets from 5pm to 10pm.
The event will feature Grammy Award-winning La Santa Cecilia, KCRW DJ Raul Campos and an opening set by Long Beach band KM.
Art displays and face-paint designs in honor of the holiday will be included. Food vendors and community organizations will be present, as well.

Shed your skin
Grade Potential Tutoring is hosting its annual Halloween-costume recycling drive and is looking for donations of used (and new) costumes of all sizes and styles to donate to local children in foster care. The collection will run through Nov. 17. Costumes collected after Halloween will b stored and then distributed in 2018. Donations can be dropped off at 917 Pine Ave. Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5pm.
