The Greater Long Beach Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a free comprehensive Health Services workshop Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This program is offered free to healthcare professionals with a current professional license or certificate to practice as doctors, physician assistants, CNAs, RNs, LVNs and EMTs.
The workshop is designed to prepare licensed or certified health professionals to work in their chapter jurisdiction or be deployed to a Red Cross disaster relief operation and function as Red Cross health professionals.
In the event of disaster, healthcare volunteers will be needed manage shelters, diagnose clients, provide mental health services, assess and treat health needs and make referrals.
This course is approved for six contact hours by the California Board of Registered Nursing and will take place at the Greater Long Beach American Red Cross Chapter located at 3150 East 29th Street in Long Beach.
Continuing education credits are also available for those completing the program.
