The community is invited to help with the reimagining of the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library Garden at an upcoming meeting.
The garden sits just outside the entrance of the library, and has been a mainstay of the community, offering colorful blooms and small vegetation throughout the year. The garden is set to be revitalized, along with a community celebration, by September.
Library patrons, garden lovers and residents are invited to shape this future at a meeting on Monday, April 28 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.). The community can share their ideas on garden updates that will enhance sustainability, increase accessibility and create a space that fosters learning and connection.
During the meeting, residents will review interactive planning boards and can take part in a design-your-own-garden activity while enjoying light refreshments.
The Michelle Obama Library Garden project will begin in June, following a cleanup in May. Residents may call 562-570-7500 or email lbpl@longbeach.gov for more information.
