This Halloween, children that are having a longer stay at Long Beach MemorialCare’s Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital didn’t miss out on trick-or-treating.
Hospital employees have transformed one of the center’s event halls with decorated Halloween booths staffed by various hospital departments.
Patients were escorted from their rooms in full costume, accompanied by the Long Beach Fire Department and Child Life specialists, to go “trick-or-treating” and collect toys, games and prizes.
The program aims to bring a sense of normalcy to hospitalized children by helping them participate in the holiday festivities with events and activities for patients and their families to create unique holiday memories and forget about treatment.
