The fourth annual Volunteer Village is back Oct. 8 at Alpert Jewish Community Center from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free to anyone interested in volunteer work. This year’s theme is “Imagine the Difference Even an Hour Can Make.”
More than 40 service providers from the greater Long Beach community will have representatives available to talk with interested volunteers about their organizations and the type of volunteer support they seek.
This is an excellent opportunity to “shop” as attendees of all ages may explore how their unique skills, abilities and passions match the needs of the participating organizations, such as the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), American Red Cross, Aquarium of the Pacific, and many more.
Volunteer Village is being presented by the Greater Long Beach Directors of Volunteers (GLBDOV), a group convened by the Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership.
“The utilization and integration of volunteers within nonprofit organizations is frequently a key in achieving one’s mission and becoming viable and sustainable,” said Judy Ross, executive director of Nonprofit Long Beach Partnership. “The Collaboration being demonstrated to present the ‘Volunteer Village’ is an excellent example of what we strive for.”
Alpert Jewish Community Center is located at 3801 East Willow Street in Long Beach.
