Lakewood City Council member named director of LBCC Superintendent-President’s Office

Lakewood City Council Member Jeff Wood has been named director of the Superintendent-President’s Office for Long Beach City College (LBCC). He began on May 14.
Under the direction of the superintendent-president, Wood now serves as the chief of staff of the Superintendent-President’s Office, overseeing and coordinating all administrative activities of that office and executive offices.
“Jeff Wood possesses years of experience in so many matters pertaining to Long Beach City College’s goals,” said LBCC Superintendent-President Reagan F. Romali. “His knowledge and understanding of the legislative process, recruitment, community engagement and budgeting experience really stood out when we searched for the right candidate to become the new director of the Superintendent-President’s Office.”
Wood has served on the Lakewood City Council since 2011 and was mayor 2015–2016. He chaired and served as a member of many standing Lakewood council committees, including park development, intergovernmental relations, environmental management, community promotions and economic development.
Prior to joining LBCC, Wood served since 2012 as the director for Risk Management/Environmental Health and Occupational Safety at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
Wood holds a bachelor of arts in speech communication from Cal State Long Beach. He is an active volunteer and resident of Lakewood, according to LBCC officials.
