The choir’s artistic director, Rob Istad, described the upcoming season as one that “will bring exceptional, diverse musical experiences to the people of our city. You won’t want to miss a moment.”
The season opens on Oct. 25 at 4:30pm at the Long Beach City College Auditorium with a concert entitled Joy, Fantasy and Remembrance, which will feature works from Beethoven, Tim Durkovic at the keyboard and Tarik O’Regan’s Triptych, a set of three musical works. It will also present the world premiere of Long Beach composer Jenni Brandon’s new work that Camerata commissioned.
On Dec. 6 at 4:30pm, Camerata will team up with the Long Beach Symphony in a performance, and more shows throughout April 2016 will have renditions of Bach’s works as a part of the Long Beach Bach Festival.
The final concert of the season on June 4 at 6:30pm at the Daniel Recital Hall on the campus of Cal State University, Long Beach, “Camerata Goes Broadway,” will allow patrons to bid on silent-auction items and watch performances of solos, ensembles and choruses.
“We are very excited to be celebrating our 50th anniversary this season,” said Camerata Board President Jan Hower, “and we look forward to serving our community with beautiful choral music for many years to come.”
Subscriptions to the Long Beach Camerata 2015-16 season are available starting at $100, and tickets to individual concerts are also available starting at $30 and $10 at the door with student I.D.
