The Long Beach Municipal Band, the longest running, municipally supported band in the country, is now celebrating its 101st season by presenting a summer full of outdoor concerts. Each of the seven weeks of the season will focus on a different theme and will be performed by the band’s 40 professional musicians. To cap off several performances, concert audiences will be treated to selections from special vocalists— accompanied by the Long Beach Municipal Band’s Studio Band.
Brought to the community by the Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department and Partners of Parks, the band will serve up a total of 27 concerts this season. Performances are slated for Tuesdays through Fridays, now through August 13. All concerts begin at 6:30pm.
“The old-fashioned concert in the park is one of the finest family entertainment experiences available,” said conductor Larry Curtis. “Many who attend the concerts bring picnic dinners and blankets or lawn chairs. It’s a very festive atmosphere.”
