The City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine is offering classes this summer that cater to young children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens.
Pre-Kindergarten
For children as young as 6 months old to those about to start school, tots can learn anything from Mexican folk dance to early cooking skills. These classes provide opportunities to have fun and learn in a nurturing social setting. Many classes require parent participation, which provides a bonding experience between parent and child. Those interested are encouraged to register early for classes with enrollment limitations and to pay any required materials fee in cash at the first class meeting.
Youth
As children grow, so do their interests. Parks, Recreation and Marine has classes that will keep youngsters active and engaged this summer with a wide variety of subjects to provide fun and learning experiences. Children can take courses in anything from playing the ukulele to sand sculpting techniques.
Teens
Parks, Recreation and Marine is offering two teen-specific classes this summer— Driver’s Education and Teen Beat Camp.
Adults
Parks, Recreation and Marine is offering classes in a variety of subjects for adults to expand their knowledge and explore their interests. Learn to do anything from calligraphy to exotic Indian cooking, from belly dancing to how to sell on e-Bay.
Age 50-Plus
Individuals ages 50 and up may meet people who share their interests while doing their favorite activities or learning to do something new. Most class fees are payable per person per individual class.
