LB Playhouse celebrating its 80th with speakeasy

The Long Beach Playhouse will “turn the clock back” to 1929 to celebrate its 80th anniversary at Joey “The Saint” Valentine’s Speakeasy on Saturday, February 13. Vintage attire is encouraged at the celebration, which will commemorate the February 1929 founding of the Playhouse, the oldest continually operating community theatre west of the Mississippi River.
Joey Valentine’s Speakeasy will be located at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel, 111 East Ocean Blvd. Tickets are $250 (seating down front with Joey) and $150, with tables of 10 available. For those who know the password, the doors open at 5:30pm. Festivities, food and a “shocking story” unfold beginning at 6:30pm.
Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster and LA County Supervisor Don Knabe will mingle with the likes of Gloria Swanson, George Raft and W.C. Fields.
