The Long Beach Playhouse will offer a special dress-rehearsal performance of The Plight Before Christmas, a Christmas melodrama adapted by Fred Cusick and Diane Moore, on Thursday, Dec. 2. As part of this year’s Long Beach Community Food Drive, the public is invited to bring human or pet food in exchange for free admission to the performance. The show will begin at 8pm, and seating is limited to 200 seats— first-come, first-served. Arriving early is recommended.
In this family-friendly classic melodrama, Ebeneezer Humbug is about to “raise the dickens” by foreclosing on everyone in town and forcing Felicity Fuzziwig to marry him, much to the dismay of his clerk, Bob Scratchit.
There will be a two-for-one preview show on Friday, Dec. 3 and an opening-night champagne reception with the cast on Saturday, Dec. 4. The Plight before Christmas will continue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm through Saturday, December 11. Tickets are available at lbplayhouse.org or by calling (562) 494-1014.
