LB Press club to host discussion, debate of Measure I

Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster was invited to participate in the Long Beach Press Club’s debate on the merits of Measure I, but a top aide to the mayor declined the invitation late Monday evening.
Terry Jensen, the former Long Beach Redevelopment Agency board member who was to have been Foster’s opponent, will still present his argument against approval of Measure I and accept a press conference-style session of questions, answers and follow-ups from reporters as well as members of the public. Paul Eakins of the Press-Telegram, Dave Wielenga of The District Weekly and Bill Pearl of LBreport.com will be panelists/moderators, and the invitation to Mayor Foster remains open.
The meeting of the Long Beach Press Club, which will be open to the public, is Friday, October 17 on the rooftop patio of Smooth’s Sports Grille, located at 144 S. Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach. The meeting begins at 7 p.m., and Jensen’s short presentation will begin at 8 p.m.
