
Auditions will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 5pm to 10pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 6500 Stearns St. Prospective singers should prepare an art song and expect to participate in a sight-reading exercise.
Programming for the group’s 2012-2013 concert season will include Mozart’s “Requiem,” Handel’s “Messiah,” Beethoven’s “Elegischer Gesang,” selections from Bach’s masterworks, Broadway favorites, and more.
Istad is also the director of Choral Studies at California State University, Fullerton, where he conducts the University Singers and Women’s Choir in addition to teaching courses in conducting, advanced interpretation and literature. Istad received his doctorate of musical arts degree in choral music at the University of Southern California, and he is the assistant conductor of the Pacific Chorale. He has prepared choruses for some of the most famous conductors and composers in the world, and he is in demand as an adjudicator and guest clinician throughout the United States.
