LBPD appoints new commander

Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna has selected Rudy Komisza for the position of police commander for the North Patrol Division.
Cmdr. Rudy Komisza, a 22-year veteran with the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), began his career with the LBPD in August 1992. In 2000, he was promoted to sergeant, and in 2004 he was promoted to lieutenant.
Komisza has a diverse work history, including patrol, gang enforcement, vice investigations, field training officer, drug investigations, jail administration, internal affairs, office of counter terrorism and juvenile investigations, according to the LBPD. His most recent assignment was serving as the acting commander of the North Patrol Division.
Komisza has a bachelor of arts degree in political science/public policy and administration from the University of Arizona, Tucson. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy Session 232 and the Sherman Block Supervisory Institute Class 169.
