The Long Beach Police Department’s (LBPD) traffic section conducted a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 7pm to 3am at Ocean Boulevard and Cherry Avenue.
During the operation, 521 vehicles were screened, six field sobriety tests were performed, three DUI-alcohol suspects were arrested, one driver was arrested for a traffic warrant, 12 drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license and 10 citations were issued for unsafe driving.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The LBPD will conduct another DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Dec. 19, according to police.
