LBPD seeking volunteers for senior program

The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) is currently accepting applications from volunteers for its Senior Police Partner Program with interviews expected to begin Oct. 19.
Senior Police Partners (SPPs) are a motivated team dedicated to improving our community, according to the LBPD.
They provide the following services:
• Crime victim assistance
• Vacation checks
• Peer support/resource referral
• Graffiti reporting
• Limited safety patrols
• Handicap parking citations
• Education and awareness programs
• DUI checkpoints
• Community presentations
Requirements to apply:
• At least 50 years age
• Good moral character
• No felony convictions
• Good physical health
• Ability to volunteer at least 20 hours per month
• Possess valid California driver’s license and vehicle insurance
