According to a statement released by the Long Beach Police Department on Sunday, Dec. 19, there will be increased police patrols in North and West Long Beach in response to two separate shootings that occurred in these areas.
According to LBPD, the increased patrols are meant to “increase visibility and prevent further incidents from occurring.”
LBPD has also assigned a crime analyst to give officers “strategic, statistical and investigative support” in their investigations.
The North Long Beach shooting occurred on Dec. 18 and resulted in the death of a man in his 40s. The victim was found near the intersection of 72nd Street and Atlantic Place. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office is working to identify the victim and notify his next of kin.
Further information about the shooting that occurred in West Long Beach hasn’t been released by the LBPD yet.
“We remain committed to the safety and well-being of our residents and will continue to identify solutions to address the increase in violent crime,” the LBPD said in a statement.
The LBPD asks the public to report any suspicious activity to its non-emergency line by calling 1562-435-6711.
