The Long Beach Police Department will hold a DUI checkpoint this Friday, June 25 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the East Patrol Division.

Checkpoints are selected based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests, LBPD said in a release. At the checkpoint, officers will look for signs of impairment due to alcohol or drug use.

“The safety of our community is and always will be our mission,” Lt. Kris Klein said in a statement. “We are still out there looking for impaired drivers because driving under the influence is still dangerous.”

Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to a release from LBPD.
