The City of Long Beach’s Video Communications Division, known as LBTV, received nine government-programming STAR awards at the States of California and Nevada National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SCAN NATOA) annual conference, according to city officials this week.
“Communicating with our residents is a top priority for the City of Long Beach, and video is one of the most effective tools available,” said Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia. “LBTV does a great job of keeping our residents informed– which is why they have won awards every year since 2001.”
LBTV received four first place STAR Awards in three categories:
• “Foam Free” for Best use of Animation and Environmental (two awards).
• “Go Long Beach – Digital Inclusion” for the Talk Show category.
• “The Source” for the Video Text/Bulletin Board category.
LBTV also received second and third place awards for five
additional videos:
• “Nature Centered for 50 Years” in the Public Service Announcement category.
• “Go Long Beach, featuring Mayor Robert Garcia” in the Food and Travel category.
• “LBPD E-Scooter” in the Instructional category.
• “Long Beach Connect” in the Magazine Format category.
• “Active Shooter Training” in the News Single Story category.
The STAR Awards were established in 1996 to recognize outstanding community television and social-media programming produced by local jurisdictions serving communities in California and Nevada.
