To mark the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Long Beach Firefighter Gary Biggerstaff transformed his own front yard into a memorial display dedicated to the firefighters who lost their lives at the World Trade Center.
The event drew in several hundred firefighters and families. The day started with an afternoon motorcycle ride that began at Cook’s Corner in Orange County and ended at Biggerstaff’s home on Bennett Avenue in Long Beach. A memorial ceremony followed where a New York Fire Department firefighter spoke and concluded with the firefighters giving a collective fraternal salute, showing their support to their fallen comrades.
