I totally support Councilman Al Austin’s proposal to establish a Sister City arrangement between Long Beach and Taoyuan, Taiwan.
I am a Long Beach resident having graduating with a masters in Asian studies from CSULB. Currently, I am a visiting professor in Taoyuan.
Both cities share a diversity of ethnicities and Taiwan is the first Asian country to recognize gay marriage.
In light of insecurity in the East Pacific region, such an arrangement can help solidify peace and security and give much-needed hope to this region. Please cement our city friendship with this agreement.
