Friends of Signal Hill Cultural Arts (FOSHCA), in partnership with the City of Signal Hill, invites everyone to attend our free Summer Concerts Series in Signal Hill Park, on Wednesday evenings through August 12. We are thrilled with our outstanding lineup of performers! Stone Soul will entertain you on July 8 with your favorite soul and Motown classics. Jazz, R&B, blues and pop aficionados will love the July 15 performance by The Darryl Walker Project, featuring vocalist/saxophonist Darryl Walker and friends who have played with Kenny Loggins, Barry White, Teena Marie, Otis Day & the Knights, the Platters, and other great bands.
On July 22, we’ll take you back in time with the Backbeats, who not only look like the Beatles, complete with costumes from their “mop tops,” Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road eras, but sound just like them. The world’s greatest Rolling Stones tribute band, Jumping Jack Flash, will rock you on July 29. Revisit Woodstock 1969 with the Summer of Love’s 40th anniversary celebration on August 5, bringing you the far-out vibes and sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Fogerty, Sly Stone, Arlo Guthrie, Melanie, Alvin Lee, Grace Slick, Santana, Keith Moon and The Who, with a psychedelic ending you won’t want to miss.
The last concert of the series will be on August 12, featuring the tightest urban rock band around, La Blue, with a unique and creative delivery of Latin, classic rock, blues, R&B and funk music favorites.
So come on out and join us for a great season of fantastic music. Enjoy the balmy breezes of the summer evenings while savoring the sounds and a delicious dinner which may be purchased at the park from Triple R Catering, or bring your own picnic basket…relax, sing along, and dance your cares away.
