Letter to the Editor: Addressing issues

The heat wave is over, and it’s finally starting to feel like fall in Los Angeles County!

This week, we bring you a brand new episode of Dialed-In with Don Knabe featuring an interview with Congressman and current House Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Ed Royce. We discussed a variety of global and local issues, including the new threat from ISIS, the ongoing situation with Russia and the sexual exploitation of children for money.

Speaking of the issue of child sex trafficking, Los Angeles County has partnered with Polaris Project, the Coalition Against Slavery and Trafficking and Clear Channel Outdoors to launch a new awareness campaign about the horrors of human trafficking. Clear Channel has once again stepped up to shine a light on this atrocity by donating 65 billboards and bus shelters around Los Angeles County to carry the new anti-trafficking message.

We simply cannot do it alone. We need the help of community-based organizations and the private sector to help get the message out to the public. I encourage all Los Angeles County residents to learn to recognize the signs of human trafficking and do their part to report and combat this awful crime.
