Mounds abound?
Lately [there are] gopher mounds all over residential front yards in Wrigley area between Veterans Park and Los Angeles River.
I think overpopulation of gophers started from Veterans Park, where [the] City constantly has to kill them from all the holes they make in damaging the park.
However, the gopher problem has spread to outlying areas dramatically the last few months [with] gopher mounds all over the lawn at Boys Town center at the corner of Wardlow and Pacific. The area’s Birney Elementary has had gopher mounds on the lawn that were recently covered up.
What is it going to take to get rid of all these destructive gophers before they mate in the spring and gopher population gets bigger?

Election objection
Once again, Donald Trump is undermining the idea that America is stronger when more people vote. His insinuations about early voting are false, blatantly partisan and destructive. He’s embraced a strategy of voter suppression, and we must fight it every step of the way.

“Just us” versus “justice”
Hate letters were recently sent to the Long Beach Islamic Center warning of the “cleansing” of Muslims in the United States. The South Coast Interfaith Council unequivocally condemns the destruction of any group of people and/or place of worship; we reject any action that denies fellow Americans their right to pray and fellowship. Our nation was founded on the principle that all people should be afforded the freedom of religion. No doubt, this principle forms the foundation of our country. We, as an interfaith council, refuse to stand by and allow hate to divide our interfaith community! No doubt, we are stronger when we come together as Americans and weaker when we let fear and lack of understanding come between us.
To that end, the South Coast Interfaith Council is proud to partner with leading organizations and faith communities to organize the Saturday, Dec. 17 “Stand for Justice” rally and march to the Long Beach Islamic Center. Please join us as we demonstrate that America is rooted in our ability to come together. Indeed, united we stand, divided we fall!
If you have any question, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (562) 983-1665. We look forward to seeing you on the 17th!
