Occupation inspiration?
I must try and answer the [commentary] I just read in today’s Signal by Essie Landry. [“Ticket to Work program puts people back in the driver’s seat,” June 23, 2017]
Everybody, and I mean everybody, who is out of work for any reason must go to the 99 Cents [Only] store on the corner of Carson [Street] and Orange Avenue and see what real courage and determination are. There is a young man who is employed there who has the most severe disability I have ever seen, and I have never seen him not working whenever I shop there. His is the kind of courage that should be rewarded— not the “gimme” group that is healthy but so used to free handouts that they won’t work.
Pleae don’t tell me I’m wrong: I’ve been around for 95 years, and I’ve seen what we have done to our young people. It is a sad account of America that I hope improves soon.
