In reading both an article that appeared in the Feb. 21, 2014 edition of the Signal Tribune [“Signal Hill Council votes unanimously to oppose ‘Right to Know and Vote’ initiative” ] and a letter to the editor submitted by a citizen who attended the Feb. 18, 2014 [Signal Hill] city council meeting, it is evident that I did not clearly state why I signed the petition to place the [Taxpayers’ Right to] Know and Vote initiative on a special ballot for citywide consideration. I have never stated to anyone that I supported the provisions of the initiative. What I do support is the opportunity for all citizens of this community to have their voice heard, regardless of whether it is popular or not.
Hopefully, I have clarified my position on this. It would appear that three minutes is not enough time to properly express one’s views.
