Local athletes from different Olympics Games gather for Long Beach parade

About two dozen local athletes turned up for the City of Long Beach’s Parade of Olympians on Sept. 15. After a mid-afternoon meet-and-greet, the parade began from the beach parking lot next to the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool and wound through Belmont Shore. The honorees rode in vehicles provided by local dealerships and some by the Long Beach Fire Department.
The event was coordinated by Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster’s office, the Office of Special Events & Filming, the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, Aquatic Capital of America and the Century Club.
