The Greater Long Beach Chapter (GLBC) of the American Red Cross received a donation of $200,000 from DENSO North America Foundation on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The check was designated to aid the victims of the recent wildfires and other major disasters.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of DENSO, especially because the DENSO Foundation had already distributed all of their funds for the year but saw the need and decided to give additionally” said Nancy Kindelan, CEO of the Greater Long Beach Chapter. “Denso has been a major supporter of the American Red Cross and many other vital institutions throughout the community. Their generosity will make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
The donation, according to Kindelan, represents Denso’s commitment to support the American public in times of disaster and will be used to provide immediate assistance to those whose homes were lost or severely damaged in the disaster.
The American Red Cross is continuing to provide assistance to people attempting to recover from the latest disasters and volunteers are still deployed to the hardest hit areas. Because of the support of donations like Denso’s, the American Red Cross was able to open 26 shelters where more than 25,000 people found a safe place to sleep, more than 1 million warm meals and snacks, personal comfort kits, and health and mental health services.
“We hope we can help some of the families, businesses and communities recover from this devastation,” said Matt Matsushita, president and CEO of DENSO International America.
