Exalted Ruler Cora Woodard and August Elk of the Month Joseph E. Pelzman, Sr.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, he attended an electrical trade school for four years and received his Journeyman’s Card. He later studied to become a master electrician and learn cable slicing.
He moved to Long Beach in 1996 from Garden City, Michigan and was initiated into Lodge #888 on Jan. 24, 2007.
He is married and has five children and four grandchildren. His hobbies are playing golf and walking.
He has served as a member of the Breakfast Committee, Auditing Committee, Bingo Committee and House Committee. He was also a trustee for five years but had to resign because of health issues. He has also helped with the lodge’s Laughlin trips.
“He has always been helpful to the lodge in the area of electrical work and will also pick up any member that needs to get to the lodge for meeting nights,” states a press release from the lodge. “He is always most cooperative when asked for assistance and is a great Elk.”
