The City of Long Beach announced it will require those working in congregate settings and health facilities to provide proof of vaccination or test regularly for COVID-19.
Additionally, it will require unvaccinated staff members to wear medical-grade masks, a requirement that has been in place for indoor settings citywide since July 17.
Long Beach is aligning with the guidance announced by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that will be effective on Aug. 9.
The guidance will impact acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities whose staff will be required to test for COVID-19 twice a week if unvaccinated.
Those who are unvaccinated and work in congregate care facilities and other health care settings will be required to get tested once per week.
Mayor Robert Garcia announced on Tuesday, July 27 that all City employees will need to show proof of vaccination or be required to show a negative COVID-19 test each week.
Vaccines are available at no cost, those interested can visit longbeach.gov/vaxlb for information regarding vaccinations.
