The City of Long Beach is inviting residents and business owners to discuss the possibility of establishing a Business Improvement District (BID) in the Wrigley business corridor during a public meeting on Feb. 20.

The Long Beach Economic Development Department has organized this meeting to gather input from the community on whether creating a BID would help local businesses. Business Improvement Districts aim to enhance commercial areas by pooling resources to fund improvements, public safety initiatives and beautification efforts.

“Business improvement districts are an incredibly valuable asset and help provide critical resources and services to support local businesses and nearby neighborhoods,” Sixth District Councilmember Suely Saro said in a public statement. “This effort will bring the Wrigley community together to create and maintain more vibrant, safe and welcoming spaces.”

The Wrigley business corridor spans from Pacific Avenue between West Willow Street and Pacific Coast Highway, as well as West Willow Street from Golden Avenue to Long Beach Boulevard.

During the meeting, City staff will lead discussions in collaboration with the Wrigley Business Collaborative and Wrigley Association. Feedback from attendees will help determine the next steps in potentially creating a BID for the Wrigley area. The City said it plans to provide additional opportunities for businesses and stakeholders to further share their input.

Spanish and Khmer interpretation services will be provided, and refreshments will be available. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP online through the City’s website.

More information on BIDs in Long Beach can be found at longbeach.gov/bids.

The stakeholder meeting will take place on Feb. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Cove Hotel (200 E. Willow St.).
