At its June 26 meeting, the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees certified the hiring of three high-level administrative employees for Long Beach City College (LBCC).
The board unanimously approved the new Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development, Acting Vice President of Administrative & Business Services, and Dean of the School of Career Education for LBCC.
“We were fortunate to have a very strong pool of candidates vying for these key leadership positions and I am certain that we are getting the very best to serve in these critically important positions,” said LBCCD Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Muñoz. “I am extremely grateful for the roles that their predecessors played in maintaining the forward momentum of the college as we sought to fill these positions permanently.”
The new members of LBCC’s executive leadership team are as follows:
- Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development: Kendra Madrid
- Acting Vice President of Administrative & Business Services: Michael Gregoryk
- Dean of the School of Career Education: Gita Runkle
Madrid has previously served in administrative and workforce development positions within higher education, with an emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives and economic empowerment. She previously served as the Dean of Instructional Services and Workforce Development & Innovation at East Los Angeles College.
Gregoryk has more than four decades of leadership experience in the education and community college field. He spent 15 years as the Vice President of Administrative Services at Mt. San Antonio College and before that,, was the Deputy Chancellor for the Ventura County Community College District and Interim President of Oxnard and Ventura Colleges.
Runkle has spent 19 years within higher education and corporate marketing, with leadership experience at Miami Dade College, Santa Monica College and Rio Hondo College, where she served as the school’s Dean of Business. Her time in corporate marketing has included working with large companies such as Procter & Gamble and Royal Caribbean.
“We are pleased to support Dr. Muñoz’s selection of new leaders for his executive leadership team,” said LBCCD Board President Vivian Malauulu in a public statement. “They each have an impressive resume, with diverse and industry strong backgrounds that will help LBCC achieve and create more opportunities for our students.”
