The U.S. Conference of Mayors has selected Long Beach to host its 94th annual meeting in June 2026, city officials announced.

The annual meeting is one of two major meetings the organization hosts each year to adopt policy resolutions that guide the organization’s advocacy work.

The event will bring mayors from across the nation to Long Beach.

“I look forward to welcoming America’s mayors to Long Beach for the 2026 Annual Meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors,” Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson said Tuesday. “This is a time of dynamic change and opportunity in Long Beach, and I am eager for the Conference to see it up close. There is so much going for our city as we grow Long Beach, prepare for the 2028 Olympics, foster the fastest-growing aerospace sector, continue our leadership as America’s leading trade gateway, and take on big city challenges like homelessness and climate change with innovative solutions. We look forward to sharing our progress and insights at the 2026 Annual Meeting.”

Richardson serves on the USCM Advisory Board.

The USCM is the official nonpartisan organization for cities with populations of 30,000 or more. Mayors from 1,400 cities across the country engage with national leaders to advocate for policies on issues such as homelessness, mental health, infrastructure, gun violence and the environment.

The USCM also awards grant funding for new initiatives and solutions implemented in cities.

“The Meet Long Beach team, including our Board of Directors, is honored to be hosting the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and we greatly appreciate Mayor Richardson for assisting us in bringing this prestigious event to our city,” Meet Long Beach President and CEO Steve Goodling said. “Attendees of the Annual Meeting in 2026 will have the opportunity to experience our walkable downtown and all of the vibrant happenings and developments occurring in Long Beach.”

Meet Long Beach, which was founded by local business people in 2023 as a nonprofit corporation, sells and markets the city as a destination for conventions, meetings and events.
